Best Golf Swing Instructions: How To Stop Coming Over The Top

golf swing instructionsOne of the best golf swing instructions is to understand what causes a golfer to come “over the top” during his or her downswing.

The reason why this is one of the best golf swing instructions is that an “over the top” downswing can produce some rather ugly golf shots.

An “over the top” golf shot is caused by an out-to-in path of the club face during the impact zone of the downswing.

Coming “over the top” during the downswing typically produces one of three possible golf shots.

It most likely will produce a slice golf shot in that an open club face will contact the ball on an out-to-in path across the shoulder line. This assumes  there is enough club head speed to cause the ball to curve back to the outside of the shoulder line. If there is insufficient club head speed, the ball simply will fly to the inside of the shoulder line in a pulled configuration.

Secondly, an “over the top” downswing can produce a pull golf shot if the club is closed when it contacts the ball on an out-to-in path across the shoulder line.

Thirdly, and much worse, an “over the top” downswing can produce a pulled-hook golf shot if an extremely closed club face contacts the ball on a  very pronounced out-to-in path across the shoulders.

None of these golf shots are very favorable unless intended.

Many golfers who habitually come “over the top” ask the same question as was posed in a recent article.

“My golf swing has gotten steep and I do not know how to fix it. I am cutting across the ball resulting in weak slices from an open face or pulls when i get the face square. The steep swing works great for a fade but thats the only shot i have. I just cannot get the swing path to move from inside to out. This is really frustrating. Any drills that can help fix this?” Read more…thesandtrap.com/t/62187/how-do-i-fix-a-steep-golf-swing.

The solution to curing an “over the top” golf swing or, swinging too steeply as expressed in the article, is not through some kind of drill.

The solution is to learn how to hit straight golf shots.

In order to hit straight golf shots you must have a square club face established at final address to the ball and execute a golf swing free from any manipulation to re-route the club face off its pre-swing alignment or, attempt to manipulate the club during the swing in an effort to square the club face to the ball by the time it contacts the ball.

The latter is most difficult to accomplish; the former is not.

The best way to establish and lock-in a square club face alignment is to perform one of the techniques discussed at http://lockedingolf.com.

Once you lock-in a square alignment of the club face –which incidentally and correspondingly locks-in an on line swing path of the club face–you merely need to complete your setup routine as instructed, keep your left heel firmly planted, maintain eye contact with the ball and execute a simple golf swing free from any manipulation.

You club face will contact your ball squarely on a swing path that will match your shoulder line and you will hit your golf ball striaght.

You will cure your habit of swinging too steeply and “coming over the top”  forever.

You also will experience why this information is one of the best golf swing instructions to be found anywhere.

Improve Your Golf Game: Simply Improve Your Putting

golf swing instructionsIf you want to improve your golf game, the quickest and easiest way to do so is to improve your putting.

The reason why the fastest and easiest way to improve your golf game is to improve your putting is that 40 percent of  most golfers’ golf scores derive from the putting part of the game.

More importantly is the reality that it is much easier to improve your putting than to improve your golf swing.

Irrespective of the golf swing instructions very few golfers improve the swing part of the game after playing for a couple of years.

On the other hand, you easily can improve the putting part of the game forever.

The difficulty of improving the golf swing is that most golfers rely on the muscle memory golf method.

The muscle memory approach is most unreliable because even if your muscles repeat the same swing each time, there is no assurance you will hit straight golf shots.

Most muscle memory teachers do not know this anatomical fact: once you grip a golf club with either an overlapping, interlocking or baseball style of grip, any body movement thereafter will rotate the alignment and path of the club face to a different ball flight.

Considering that most golfers make several movements of the body after gripping the club, such as moving nearer or further from the ball, flaring one or both feet, widening or narrowing the stance, raising or lowering their shoulders, etc., a slice ball flight alignment may exist at final address in one instance and a hook ball flight alignment may exist at final address in another.

This is the reason why a golfer will slice the ball in one instance and hook the ball in the next when swinging the club exactly the same way each time.

Although the Locked-In Golf System™ locks-in a straight ball flight alignment and prevents a change in the alignment and path of the club face thereafter, there are millions of golfers who are yet unaware of this revolutionary system.

Fortunately, the muscle memory approach is not very applicable to the putting part of golf and thus much easier to master.

A recent article covered some golf swing tips to improve your putting. Here is a portion of this article:

“The comfortable fact is that perfecting your putting is the simplest way you can squarely shaving off one or two strokes from your spectator sport. This is by far the easiest way you can trial your golf game – without the decrease of having to go to the golf game curriculum. All you truly stipulation is your putter, a ball, near mats and cups to imitate the open space. Place the mats and cups in your yard or somewhere you have extraterrestrial and distant you go. Just spend anywhere from 5 transactions to half-an-hour all eventide after tea and you will concentration the grades in your spectator sport.” Read more…http://frl3nd.bleublog.lematin.ch/archive/2012/06/19/golf-putting-tips-the-easies.html.

If most golfers would spend just as much as one-half of their practice time putting as spent swinging the club on the practice range they could shave several strokes off their typical score in just a short period of time.

Once you know how to truly read a putt, learn how to identify the true line of the putt and master how far to take the club during the back stroke for each distance from the ball to the cup, you should definitely improve your golf game, like almost overnight.

If you feel the above golf swing tips would improve most golfers’ golf game, kindly click the “likes” button below.

Golf Swing Lessons Instruction: How To Determine Your Ball Lie

how do you hit a golf ball straightOne of the best golf swing lessons instruction is to know how to determine whether you are faced with either a hook, slice or even ball lie.

Another golf swing lessons instruction is to know how to make the necessary adjustment in your set up routine to allow for the respective ball lie.

Follow these golf swing tips to determine whether you are faced with a slice, hook or even ball lie.

1. While standing behind your ball, facing your target, lock your knee joints and keep them locked until the procedure is completed.

2. Then place your hands horizontally on the shaft of one of your clubs with your hands about 1 and 1/2 feet apart.

3. Next, lock both of your elbow joints and observe whether the club shaft points downward to your left side, downward to your right side or remains level.

4. If the club shaft points downward to your left side it will indicate a hook lie for right-handed golfers and a slice lie for left-handed golfers.

If the club shaft points downward to your right side it will indicate a slice lie for right-handed golfers and a hook lie for left-handed golfers.

It the club shaftdoes not slant downward in either direction it will indicate an even ball lie.

You should use this golf method to determine the ball lie of each of your golf shots prior to addressing your ball.

If you do it will improve your golf game and lower your golf scores.

This technique is one of the best golf swing lessons instruction I know and may be used whether hitting from a tee box or a fairway.

Golf Putting Tips: Concentrate More On Distance For Longer Putts

best golf swing instructionsOne of the very best golf putting tips is to concentrate more on distance when rolling long putts.

The reason why this is one of the best golf putting tips is that it is difficult for the typical recreational and weekend golfers to hole long putts.

This means if they concentrate only on the line in trying to hole the putt rather than focusing on the pace of the putt, they are likely to come up very short of the hole or roll their putt well past it.

One recent article suggests you should just focus on distance when a putt is more than four paces. Here is a portion of the article on these golf putting instructions.

“One basic rule I have golfers follow is that if you are outside four paces from the hole, just go for a two putt. Work on your distance control. Three-putting is caused by poor distance control on the first putt and by bad green reading or a combination of both. Most putting greens are relatively flat, whereas greens on the golf course have much more slope.” Read more…golfinstruction.com/golf-instruction/putting/improve-your-short-game-pga-pro-lessons-12728.htm.

Quite frankly, I feel you should concentrate on the line of the putt as well as the pace of the putt, even on long putts.

However, to focus so much on the line and ignore the distance factor on longer putts is a recipe for disaster. If you have a realistic chance of winding up with a two-putt from a long distance from the cup, why take the chance of winding up with a four-putt by not paying adequate attention to the pace of the putt.

Concentrate on the pace of longer putts and you will improve your golf gameand lower your golf scores. You also should agree the above may be the best golf putting tips anywhere to be found.

Learning To Play Golf: Practice Pitch Shots To The Pin

improve your golf gameWhen learning to play golf you should practice pitching your ball near the pin for a one putt.

Mastering the short game is critical when learning to play golf if you what to improve  your golf.

Therefore you should strive to hit your pitch shots to no more than four or five feet of the hole location.

Ideally, the most significant golf swing tip here  is to spend as much time on your short game as on your long game, especially when first learning to play golf.

It simply means learning the game from inside out.

The best golf method in this regard is to begin with pitching your shots in 10 yard increments with the shortest and most lofted club in your set.

For many golfers this means to select a  lob wedge for the best golf shots around the green

One of the best ways to gauge 10 yard incremental pitch shots is to observe what part of your left arm bisects the back of your ball at the completion of your backswing to carry the ball the distance desired when executing  just a simple golf swing.

For example, you most likely will be able to pitch your ball approximately10 yards when you swing your lob wedge until you see the bicep of your left arm bisect the back of your ball at the completion of your backswing.

You may find you will be able to pitch your ball approximately 20 yards when you swing your lob wedge until you see the inside of your left elbow bisect the back of your ball at the completion of your backswing.

For an approximate 30 yard pitch shot you may find that you need to swing your lob wedge until you see the tricep of your left arm bisect the back of your ball at the completion of your backswing.

For an approximate 40 yard pitch shot you may find  you need your left shoulder to barely touch your chin at the completion of your backswing.

Then to define the process, you need to learn how far to swing your lob wedge at the completion of your backswing to pitch shots in five yard increments.

For example, for 15 yard pitch shots you may find you would need to swing your club until you could observe a spot between the bicep and elbow of your left arm bisect the back of your ball at the completion of your backswing.

When you can learn to pitch your ball in five yard increments you should be able to land it no more than a few feet of the pin— for no more than a one putt.

Tiger Woods was taught by his Dad to learn the game from  inside out.You should too. It is the fastet and most efficient way to learn the game.

One of the best ways to get started when learning to play golf is to know how to pitch shots to the pin in 5 yard increments.

Golf Putting Lessons: Moisture On Greens Affect Your Putt

golf putting tipsOne of the best golf putting lessons is to check for moisture on putting surfaces before stroking your putt.

You may be surprised how moisture on a  green will impact the pace and line of a putt. As a result of a dampened green, whether caused by watering or a recent rain, you should evaluate the situation before beginning your putting stroke.

You should begin by looking into the cup.  This is an ideal golf putting tip because if there is  water in the bottom of the cup, it will indicate a fresh re-watering or some recent rainfall.

Depending on the amount of water in the cup and how well the cup drains, you should adjust the length of  your  putting stroke correspondingly for different distances between your ball and the hole location.

For example, if you typically move your putter head three inches back  from your ball  on your putting stroke for a 12 foot putt on a dry surface, you should experiment on how much more you should move your putter head from your ball on your backstroke if the surface of the green is damp from a fresh re-watering or a recent rainfall.

You may even want to refine the process by determining whether the moisture on the surface of the green is light, moderate or heavy and judge the amount of your backstroke accordingly.

For instance, if the moisture is extremely heavy you would need to analyze how much more you would need to move your putter head from the ball on your backstroke for a specific distance to the cup  in comparison with a backstroke for only light moisture for the same distance.

Keep in mind also, you should analyze whether the putt is downhill, sidehill, uphill or on a level surface.

This definitely will improve your golf and lower your golf scores.

You also should make adjustments for each elevation differential when using these golf  putting lessons.

Experiment by practicing your putting on different degrees of moisture on  a variety of greens on your course and see how much your putting  will improve.

Golf Putting Tips: How To Use The Plumb-bobbing Technique Effectively

best golf swing lessonsPlumb-bobbing has been around for many years in terms of golf putting tips.

The golf putting tips relating to the plumbing principle are based on the proposition that a straight vertical device whose bottom point is focused on an object with its top point focused on another object will indicate any difference between the level ot the two objects

Golfers have adapted this plumbing principle to putting for many years. They apply it by standing behind their ball facing the cup and placing the bottom part of their putter  shaft  in line with their ball  and the top part of the shaft in line with the cup from their dominant eye line of vision.

They then assume if the top part of the putter shaft points to the right of the cup, the ball will break the same degree to the left.  If on the other hand if the putter shaft points to the left of the cup the ball will break proportionately to the  right.

However, some of the golfing gurus have issues with this golf method of putting. There now is some healthy debate about the reliability of plumb-bobbing in putting.

I am in some doubt about its reliability if used exclusively in determining a break of a putt.

However, I think these golf putting instructions can be used in combination with other techniques to determine a putt break. In addition, I have found it to be more reliable  if there is plumb-bobbing from the cup to the ball as well as from the ball to the cup.The application is the same except in reverse. That is, you stand behind the cup facing the ball with the bottom part of the putter shaft being placed in line with the center of the cup and the top part of the putter shaft in line with the ball. This way, they do provide some reliable golf putting tips.

Considering the ball is likely to break more proportionately nearer the cup, this reverse type of plumb-bobbing may be more indicative of the amount of the overall break although both the direct as well as the reverse plumb-bobbing should be considered in determing the amount ot the break.

A complimentary technique to determine the break of a putt is to stand behind the cup facing the ball, lock the knee joints and then hold the putter shaft horizintally.

Then lock both elbows. The degree the putter shaft tilts to the right or to the left should provide some reliable indication of the break of the putt. Of course, you also could use this complimentary technique in reverse order by doing the same by standing behind the ball facing the cup.

Each one of these techniques can be completed in a matter of seconds and when considered all together should give a reliable indication of the break of the putt. Some sound golf putting tips, indeed

Keep in mind that even with these techiques the average golfer does not allow for enough break. Therefore , if you are going to favor more or less break, go for more.

If you use a combination of all four ways to study a break on each green you should knock a few stokes off your score in no time flat.

Aside from learning how to drive a golf ball straight improving your putting is the fastest way to improve your golf and lower your golf score.
